Congratulations to all the TY students who have completed their first work experience placement.

The feedback received from employers was nothing short of fantastic. Some comments included:

The best fourth year student we’ve ever had on placement

I wish he was finishing school this year so I could employ him full time

Punctuality was excellent, to a point of being early

Never left work until a task was finished, even if she was scheduled to finish earlier

It was an extremely positive experience for staff to hear such positive comments about our students. The students showed themselves, their parents and their school in the best light and we are extremely happy with the maturity and attitude the students displayed on the work experience placement.

Students are asked to submit their work experience booklet to their mentor teacher to gain maximum points for this placement.

Following the work experience placement the students are now taking part in a Success Skills Programme ran by the Government funded  Junior Achievement Programme. The programme aims to develop students work place skills and it will also teach the students how to write an effective CV. The students will also take part in mock interviews at the end of this programme.

Once the students have their CV completed they will use this to apply for their second work experience placement in May. Students are encouraged to start thinking about where this second placement will be and to challenge themselves to work in a different industry to their first placement.
